Tyneka Johnson, 21, was among the victims allegedly shot and killed by Andre Bing, a manager who opened fire in the store on Sam's Circle around 10:15 p.m., according to the New York Post and WJLA/7News.
Authorities confirmed that the gunman killed his colleagues before turning the gun on himself.
"Three individuals, including the shooter, were located deceased in the break room of the store," city officials said on Twitter. "One victim was located deceased toward the front of the store. Three other victims were transported to local hospitals for further treatment, but succumbed to their injuries."
At least six other victims were taken to local hospitals, where one remained in critical condition as of noon Wednesday, Nov. 23.
A video posted to Facebook by Draayia Janaee, an apparent Walmart employee, shows a man identified as "Andre" conversing with workers before walking away when the camera is pointed at him.
It was unclear when the video was taken.
Police raided the suspect's Chesapeake home, but details about the search were scarce, according to the New York Post.
While authorities continue to investigate the massacre, one victim's family sought help from the community.
"We need help locating my lil cousin," Shunita Cuba wrote on Facebook, along with a photo of Johnson. "She is an employee at Walmart. Everyone need to know if she is safe."
Family members who were creating a memorial in the store's parking lot confirmed to 7News that Johnson was a victim.
She was remembered on social media as someone who had "so many plans."
Walmart issued a statement on Twitter, calling the deadly incident a shock.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
